Wassail Theatre Company presents Reclaimed

January 27 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

£10 - £12

RECLAIMED is a new production from Somerset’s Wassail Theatre Company that explores the fight to reclaim what has been suddenly and tragically taken away. It brings the 2013/14 flooding crisis to life in a story inspired by true events.

It had been an ordinary January day. That is until an extraordinary thing happened: the water came and it didn’t go away. The community had been told to evacuate their homes and meet at the highest, safest point: the village hall.

What happens when a community is in crisis? When tragedy is moments away and when your loved ones are nowhere to be seen, who do you turn to for help? RECLAIMED places the audience right in the heart of a fictional village under siege.

This production has been made possible with public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England as well as Sedgemoor District Council, South Somerset District Council, North Petherton Town Council and Take Art through their Barn initiative.

The show wouldn’t be possible without support of The Brewhouse Theatre, The Redbrick Building Glastonbury, Bridgwater Arts Centre and Moorland & Fordgate Village Hall.

Somerset Cool Blog

“Last night we saw @wassailtheatre’s new show – Reclaimed, set in a fictional #somerset village during the 2013/14 floods. It was handled with heart, humour & humility & is on tour in #somerset now, so definitely worth seeing if you get chance.” Somerset Cool Blog
“…how cleverly [this] play has been created, balancing comedy moments, mounting fear, real horror and that self-deprecating British humour that traditionally sees us through… Director Jesse Briton and his versatile cast have discovered the ideal way to present this important, funny and thought-provoking play” Fine Times Recorder
“Powerful, funny, frightening, truthful, heart-warming and more”
“An amazing experience, high class performance, as a member of the audience, I felt complete inclusion – for the highs & the lows – highly recommend”
“To take a production like this and entertain us was a big thing… to get us to laugh.. and dancing… congratulations”
“during the floods I felt powerless… [the show] was brilliantly done.”
“When all of this was going on it was all quite horrifying… a TV panellist said “oh for goodness sake, they’ve only lost their carpet” and that showed the gap between town and city, thank you for closing that gap tonight.”
