Tales from the Bawdy Bardess
October 6 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm£10 - £12
A consummate teller of tales, Debs Newbold knows the meaning of the word ‘bawdy’. In this rollicking piece of ribald stand-up storytelling, three tales from Merrie Olde Europe; one English, one French, one Italian; get a womanly reworking and a glorious dollop of Debs’ masterful ribaldry.
Boccaccio and a fruity French Fabliau are all re-told with relish in a show which causes return queues at theatres and festivals across the UK, and has audiences clutching at their sides and reaching for The Canterbury Tales.
Debs Newbold is one of the UK’s most distinctive and acclaimed Performance Storytellers, regularly playing venues such as the Royal Opera House, the British Library, the Southbank Centre and Shakespeare’s Globe as well as many prestigious festivals both in the UK and abroad.
Twice voted one of the top five acts at the Towersey Festival (the only Spoken Word Artist in its fifty year history ever to achieve this), principal Storyteller for Shakespeare’s Globe and the English Folk Dance & Song Society, Debs is a force of nature, a performer not to be missed.
This is Deb’s fourth performance at Victoria Hall with audiences growing each time. Early booking advised.
